Taking on the "JioPhone 4G feature phone" with smartphones, Airtel has partnered 4G device manufacturers in India for its 'Mera Pehla 4G Smartphone' initiative. The partnerships is with Karbonn India Mobiles, with the "Karbonn A40 Indian" said to now be available at just Rs. 1,399. With this announcement using the same terminology, Airtel is clearly targeting the Reliance JioPhone. 



How does it works?

1) Buy Karbonn A40 Indian
2) Recharge worth Rs. 3,000 within 18 months
3) This gets you Cashback of Rs. 500
4) Continue to recharge worth Rs. 3,000 for next 18 months
5) Get addtional Cashback of Rs. 1,000


1. The ‘My First Smartphone’ offer is being provided by Airtel to any new/existing pre-paid subscriber who wishes to avail of Airtel’s mobility services on Karbonn A40 Smartphone
2. Subscriber is eligible for total Cashback of Rs. 1500 on this device, which will be split over a period of 36 months from the date of purchase of the Karbonn A40 Smartphone device (“Device”).
3. The cashback will be credited to the Subscriber’s Airtel Payment Bank account.
4. Subscriber shall receive in Airtel Payments Bank account Rs. 1500 in two tranches : First Tranche: Rs. 500 will be given at the end of first 18 months; and the Second Tranche: Rs. 1000 will be given at the end of 36 months.
5. Customer does not need to return the Device to avail the cashback.

6. The first Airtel Mobile SIM card inserted in the Device is deemed associated with the offer, the cashback will be given on the Airtel Payments Bank account on this mobile number subject to the following:

  • For Rs. 500 cashback at the end of 18 months:
    • Subscriber must recharge the Airtel Mobile number, which was first inserted in the phone, at least once every month for 18 months
    • A cumulative recharge of minimum Rs. 3000 should be made on this specific Airtel Mobile number

  • For Rs. 1000 cashback at the end of 36 months:
    • Subscriber must recharge the Airtel Mobile number, which was first inserted in the phone, at least once every month for the next 18 months
    • A minimum cumulative recharge of Rs. 3000 should be made - between the 19th month and the 36th month - on this specific Airtel Mobile number
